Facilities Assistant - Great Entry Level Opportunity - Central London SW1 - £25k + benefits

We're on the hunt for a proactive, diligent and eager Facilities Assistant to join a successful professional association in Central London.

This is a great entry level opportunity for someone looking to forge a career in Facilities, where you can utilise the basic skills (such as changing fuses and light bulbs etc) and any relevant experience you've already gained in a new role that will ensure you continue to learn and develop.

You will proactively undertake a wide range of general duties throughout the organisation's offices including meeting and event set up, minor maintenance, post room support, reception duties and facilities administration.

Based near Victoria, this role requires strong work ethic with a willingness to be flexible and the ability to multi-task. You will be keen to learn any relevant Health and Safety requirements and attain any relevant H&S qualifications and you will be manually dextrous with a reasonable level of physical fitness as this role requires lots of walking and moving of light equipment.

This is an office based role with core hours of 10am - 6pm, but some flexibility will be required.

Key responsibilities as the Facilities Assistant will include:

  • Assisting with meeting room preparation, undertaking the movement of furniture, deliveries, stores and equipment as required
  • Providing first line building maintenance support
  • Ensuring all defects to equipment, services (i.e. lighting, heating, water, drainage etc) are reported and repaired promptly
  • Acting as a Fire Warden and carrying out weekly fire alarm tests
  • Providing support for the Facilities Officer and facilities team as required
  • Assist with department administration
  • Ensuring compliance with all H&S legislation, procedures and processes

What we're looking for:

  • A strong work ethic with a 'can-do' and flexible nature
  • Manually dextrous
  • Reasonable level of physical fitness with the ability to undertake frequent lifting of light to moderate weights
  • Experienced in basic repair of minor defects (i.e. changing fuses and lightbulbs etc)
  • Willingness to undertake relevant qualifications
  • Confident and professional communication skills and the ability to deal sensitively and diplomatically at all levels
  • Relevant First Aid qualifications would be desirable
  • IT literate with working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to work outside standard hours when required
  • Good level of education including GCSE Maths and English
