Location: Remote

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000

The client is an ambitious and innovative Managing General Agent (MGA) with a wide-ranging product offering. A newly established player in the market, they are dedicated to delivering tailored insurance solutions and building lasting partnerships with their clients. Their mission is to redefine the insurance experience through agility, expertise, and a deep commitment to their broker network.

The Opportunity

They are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Trading Underwriter to join their growing team. This role is critical to the success of the company, focusing on commercial combined insurance products. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in managing and developing broker relationships, particularly in the local region, and will play a key role in driving new business and expanding their market presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Development: Manage and grow a portfolio of commercial combined insurance products, ensuring profitability and alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Broker Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a panel of brokers in the local region, acting as their primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
  • New Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging your existing broker relationships and market knowledge to maximize growth.
  • Trading & Negotiation: Lead negotiations with brokers, securing favourable terms and conditions that balance risk and reward, while meeting the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Market Expansion: Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to expand our broker network, with a focus on attracting and retaining loyal broker partners.
  • Product Expertise: Apply your in-depth knowledge of commercial combined insurance to assess and underwrite complex risks, ensuring accurate pricing and risk management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including claims, actuarial, and product development, to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions and enhance service delivery.

What's needed for me to be considered?

  • Proven ability to manage and develop broker relationships, with a strong focus on new business acquisition.
  • A loyal broker following that can be leveraged to grow the network would be highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and pricing strategies in the commercial insurance space.
  • Strong negotiation and trading skills, with a focus on achieving profitable growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust with brokers and colleagues.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving results and contributing to the success of a growing business.
