Internal Audit Manager / Assistant Manager

The firm is looking to appoint an Internal Audit Manager due to continued expansion. The world of internal audit is diverse and rewarding and, as a Manager, you will have responsibility for a full portfolio of general practice clients and will take full responsibility for client requirements, requiring little Partner involvement beyond final review. They will be fully responsible for WIP control, billing procedures and debtor control and will take full responsibility for the effective production of work within the team, including mentoring, conducting team meetings and team appraisals. They will be commercial and proactive in fee development and regularly attend networking and BD events / functions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Present for Partner or Director review, complete files to a high standard
  • Effectively control your own portfolio, including everything from workforce planning, management of WIP and billing
  • Think ahead in order to plan workflow for you and the team alongside Partner.
  • Build and further develop client relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Business development - attending new client meetings, networking events and PB marketing events.
  • Display a strong commercial awareness in fee development and cross-sold speciality services, including seeking opportunities to meet referral sources for such purposes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to add value
  • Display proactive awareness of current relevant legislation, compliance standards and potential advantages, relating them to client situations.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of assignment plan, instructions and time budgets before assignment begins and brief team members accordingly.
  • Raise high quality business correspondence including technically demanding reports, business plans etc., whilst demonstrating a value for money service to clients.
  • Focus on effective work for good clients and queries additional work for un-commercial clients with relevant Partners.
  • Take role as main point of contact for compliance queries from clients within your own portfolio.
  • Lead the annual planning process with clients.
  • Produce annual IA reports for clients where applicable / relevant.
  • Quote and estimate fees within your level of authority.
  • Handle scope creep properly.
  • Answer queries from clients and credit control quickly in accordance with our internal procedures.
  • Liaise constructively with partners and HR about your team's performance: their grades and salaries and our financial outcomes will be influenced by what you say.
  • Effectively delegate work to, and mentor the team, including planning, instruction and review of work, and giving constructive feedback through job appraisals.
  • Provide feedback to junior and senior team members of quality of work / performance.
  • Manage the team including monitoring work in progress and compliant work standards.
  • Motivate and mentor the team by effective communication, constructive work assignment feedback and effective job appraisal.

Person Specification:

  • ACA / ACCA / IIA qualified.
  • Experience planning and working on audits of varying sizes
