Junior Buyer

c£27k - £30k + Bonus

My client is an extremely well-established pharmaceutical wholesaler & distributor, and we are proud to support in their search for a Junior Buyer to join their team close to Salford Quays.

This role plays a key part where you will combine product research and sourcing. You will be responsible for managing all queries from internal and external customers in relation to identifying sources of products from around the world. You will take ownership of all new enquiries and will be responsible for presenting back all options to customers. In addition, the Junior Buyer, (with support from a Buyer), will have responsibility for the effective and profitable sourcing and procurement of unlicensed medicines for UK and International markets, from across the globe.

Hours: Monday-Friday 09:00 – 17:00.

(Hybrid working 3 in office, 2 from home once probation is completed)

Key Responsibilities:

Research:

  • Manage all product enquiries from internal and external customers in relation to product availability for allocated customers.
  • Use databases, national websites and internal data to research each product enquiry to identify which countries a product is available in, taking into consideration requested brands as well as viable alternatives.
  • Liaise with the buyers to obtain pricing and availability information on products from initial query.
  • Collate all responses and respond to query originator.
  • Manage and maintain databases and spreadsheets in relation to live and historic queries.
  • Own all enquiries from start to finish for designated customers.

Buying:

  • Profitability - Manage cost of goods and payment terms for all products/suppliers, ensuring best terms are obtained for the business.
  • Inventory Management and Product Availability - Manage stock within allocated categories to deliver optimum levels required to maintain good product availability, whilst minimising slow moving stock and overstocks.
  • New Product Sourcing – Obtain quotes and required information, and research thoroughly all options for new product requests.
  • Supplier Management – Build new, and manage and nurture existing supplier relationships to ensure the best outcomes for the business.
  • Place Purchase Orders in accordance with agreed stock policies.
  • Manage outstanding supplier orders and shipments.
  • Analyse and review data in relation to availability, stockholding and supplier lead times for countries, and take action where required to resolve issues.
  • Regularly review cost prices, ensuring most profitable outcome is achieved for the business.
  • Source new products in conjunction with the Product Research process.
  • Resolve any order discrepancies in conjunction with the Finance or Quality teams.
  • Management of the quality, cost and delivery performance of allocated suppliers.
  • Maintenance of supplier and product data in company systems and databases.

  • High level of computer literacy, to include all main Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and administration skills.
  • Able and willing to take ownership and use initiative where required to see tasks through to the end.
  • Ability to be organised to prioritise workload whilst demonstrating time management skills
