We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Green Funding Solutions team. This role is pivotal in developing and contracting energy efficiency solutions for domestic customers across the UK, specifically around the Southwest region. The successful candidate will drive long-term business value, develop strategic sales plans, and lead new projects from conception to contract completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and contract domestic energy efficiency solutions that deliver long-term value to the business.
  • Execute a detailed sales strategy aligned with market incentives and client needs, maintaining a clear pipeline with forecasted revenue to support business MTP and projected growth.
  • Lead new projects through identification, development, proposal, commercial negotiation, and contract completion, utilizing expertise from EIS colleagues to meet business targets.
  • Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to Executive Board level, both internally and externally, providing clients with commercially viable E.ON propositions.
  • Manage and influence external stakeholders to secure support and contract awards, generating new revenue and business value for E.ON.
  • Advise clients on propositions, funding, and delivery in collaboration with internal Pre-Contract and Delivery teams to develop cost-effective business propositions that meet client needs.
  • Negotiate and maximize contract value for all projects, ensuring profitable delivery.
  • Represent E.ON at a high level with clients and potential clients to enhance our reputation and secure new contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal commercial and delivery teams to develop new projects with existing and new clients, increasing revenue and performance.
  • Identify and capitalize on added value opportunities across E.ON businesses, including ECO Delivery, SMART, District Heating, and Generation.
  • Recommend process improvements to the National Business Development Manager to increase opportunities and minimize risk.

**What we need from you

Essential

  • Experience of securing multiple £m contracts for programmes with clients, ideally in a contractor and / or energy efficiency-related setting
  • Proven track record of commercially delivering against challenging sales targets with the ability to build and lead strong sales performance across a breadth of channels
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK energy efficiency and solutions marketplace including current and future funding initiatives, with experience in developing large scale complex programmes with multiple work streams
  • Experience of public sector projects, solutions, policies and funding mechanisms in the domestic sector
  • Experience of developing and securing tailored, commercially viable business propositions to deliver customer VFM and business Revenue and EBIT
  • Advanced stakeholder management - Demonstrable track record of managing internal and external customer relationships at board level in a competitive environment
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of opportunities whilst balancing multiple stakeholders both internally and externally
  • High level of client understanding, empathy and focus

It would be good if you had:

  • Experience of commercial management across a broad portfolio of customers/products/services/transactions
  • Technical understanding of energy efficiency solutions and commercial applications in a contractor environment
  • Experience of current and future Government incentives aligned to the UK net zero ambition
  • Full understanding of standards and regulatory compliance in sector
  • Ideally experience in working with Energy Supplier, Local Authority, Social Landlord or Devolved Government clientele
  • Negotiating and contracting experience through direct interactions with external and internal colleagues in legal, finance and procurement support functions.
