Instrument Maintenance Technician

Our client, a prominent entity in the Oil & Gas sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Instrument Maintenance Technician to join their team on a contract basis. The role involves maintaining and ensuring the operational integrity of instrumentation systems within a production environment.

Main Functions:

As an Instrument Maintenance Technician, you will install and maintain instrument equipment in compliance with all relevant rules and practices. You will test and repair instrumentation systems used by production equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality. Your responsibilities will include evaluating instruments to establish repair plans, documenting, and verifying problems and actions taken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, update, and oversee activities within your areas of responsibility according to laws, regulations, and procedures, with a special focus on health, safety, and the environment.
  • Support and encourage team efforts between operations, engineering, and projects groups.
  • Provide input and review control specifications and work practices.
  • Be responsible and accountable for control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual.
  • Apply and follow work permits through the Permit To Work System (PTWS) as outlined in the Work Management Manual.
  • Ensure the quality and timely completion of work scheduled by the Maintenance Programme.
  • Develop personal and team technical skills in areas such as new regulations, equipment, and methods.
  • Attend and instruct technical meetings as needed to inform instrument technicians of the latest specifications, codes, procedures, and technology.
  • Maintain open communications on control issues, including safe work practices and training, with co-workers.
  • Support work prioritisation to maximise effectiveness and complement the efforts of other work groups.
  • Provide technical support to other technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting of the company's instrument systems.
  • Generate Management of Change requests (MOCs) for control related equipment and installations, following up with installation inspections consistent with Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Element 3.
  • Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations for consistency with the mission, recommending upgrades as necessary.
  • Act as a stand-in for the Instrument Lead position as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in maintaining Instruments and Controls in processing plant or offshore production plant.
  • Understanding of regulations applicable to the operations of oil and gas facilities.
  • Familiarity with OIMS systems, related manuals, and procedures.
  • Ability to meet safety, administrative, and technical training requirements associated with this position as documented in the company's operations-approved training roadmap.
  • Relevant Associates degree, preferably enhanced by related technical school courses.
  • Proficiency in computing skills.
