A welcoming school in the London Borough of Richmond is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to enhance their facilities team. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role is integral in maintaining the school's environment and ensuring a safe, clean, and secure setting for staff and pupils.
Hours: Morning and afternoon shifts
Day to Day of the role:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Conduct regular routine inspections of the buildings and grounds, documenting findings and promptly reporting any issues to the Site Manager.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the playground, paths, and fire escapes, and manage the disposal of litter and waste in outdoor bins.
- Operate and maintain school heating, lighting, water, and ventilation systems to the required standards.
- Perform minor repairs, improvements, and decoration tasks as needed.
- Report any health and safety concerns or defects to the Site Manager.
- Manage the safe control of Legionella bacteria and operate the school fire alarm system, including weekly checks.
- Ensure fire safety equipment is serviceable and in proper condition.
- Oversee the work of in-house and contract cleaners, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are met.
- Handle the security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking gates and doors.
- Act as a main key holder, managing the secure storage and distribution of school keys.
- Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS clearance
