Technical Coordinator

Role Overview

As a Technical Coordinator, you will assist the Quality and Technical team in implementing food safety, quality, and hygiene systems across the site. You will provide competent and efficient technical administrative support to both internal and external customers. A Technical Coordinator will also maintain site compliance against the set legal, hygiene and customer standards, by trend, identify and communication deviations from the standards against the systems.

Duties Include

  • To actively promote a safe culture, ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are met.
  • Administration of complaints database. Ensure complaint investigations address the root cause and liaise with the QA Manager to ensure there are no overdue investigations.
  • Perform traceability and trend data
  • KPI reporting - Analyse technical KPI (micro, physical grades, complaints etc.) info and flag up adverse trends to the Technical Manager ensuring improvement actions are agreed and documented for all adverse trends.
  • Audit and maintain quality assurance records. Example: Production records, hygiene check sheets, swabbing and Certificates of Analysis
  • Complete internal audits. Examples: Systems, procedures, Pest control, Glass, Packaging, Critical Control Points, etc.
  • Assist QA/Technical Manager in keeping documentation up to date in line with legislation.
  • To step up and cover in the absence of the QA Technician or Technologist.
  • To maintain an up-to-date calibration schedule for all equipment in use for monitoring product safety, legality, and quality.
  • To ensure systems used in production are working, for example weighing systems, magnets, intact grading sieves, CCP validation protocols, swabbing protocols, and testing procedure is executed
  • To order consumables (such as laboratory consumables) as and when required
  • Member of the site HACCP and TACCP/VACCP teams guiding best practices from subject area research
  • Logging of micro and shelf-life analysis. If outside limits, then ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • Technical support for customers - Completion of SAQ's, specifications and other technical information for customers
  • Data maintenance – product codes and batches
  • Keep QMS documentation up to date, improve where needed and keep compliant to company QMS..
  • Maintain pesticide list and provide information to technologists based on customer requests.
  • Personally comply with all policies, procedures, and risk assessments relevant to the role and industry responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety training and HACCP
  • Understanding of Microbiology and hazards
  • Preferably holding a recognised qualification in Food Science related subject
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a quality or technical role in the Food Manufacturing Industry
  • Good level of IT literacy and communication
  • Proactive and analytical nature
  • Able to work on own initiative but also as part of a team.

Hours

: 8.00am to 4.30pm – Monday to Friday. Through the busy season some Sunday work may be required for audits.

Salary:

£28,000 - £35,000 Depending upon experience
