One of Sanderson's largest clients, a best-in-class pension platform provider, are currently recruiting for a Senior Data Protection Specialist Controller. The role's main location is set as Peterborough, but they would also consider candidates for their Liverpool, Bristol or Basingstoke office.

The role provides key technical expertise to the business, including senior management, on the relevant requirements of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the requirements of the GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 are fully considered, interpreted, implemented and maintained by the business with a focus on key activity of the client as a Controller.

This is a short-term replacement, so will initially be on a 6 month FTC.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assist the DP manager in driving forward and implementing the support for Diligenta as a Controller.
  • Assist the DP manager in training and raising awareness of data protection compliance of staff involved in processing operations and audits and undertake refresher training as appropriate
  • Support in the TUPE deliveries relating to transformation activity key to the development of Diligenta's strategy (migration)
  • Assist in the development of BAU governance and processes for Diligenta as Controller.
  • Support delivery of BAU as relationship manager with internal functions primarily HR and procurement
  • Represent the team in support of corporate projects to ensure change is GDPR/DP compliant.
  • Assist in the review of new policies, guides and procedures owned by the Data Protection team to ensure they remain up-to-date and relevant to executives, senior management and employees, particularly where they impact on the Controller.

What we're looking for

  • BCS The Chartered Institute of IT Certification in Data Protection
  • A credible influencer of management, able to propose and implement compliance solutions with the required level of personal impact
  • Able to represent their function at project meetings, forums, committees and in other general meetings with both clients and internally
  • Ability to recognise privacy implications of business initiatives, but has commercial awareness and can add value to a proposed solution
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Sound technical generic knowledge of ICO requirements
  • Sound knowledge of business processes and requirements for relevant business units(s)
  • Experience of working in a project environment or project management
