Are you an experienced Benefit Assessment Officer looking for an interim position? Are you available immediately for employment? Are you seeking a remote position? If the answer is yes, we currently have opportunities available for 3 Benefit Assessment Officers on an initial 3 month temporary basis.

Working within the Adult Social Care Financial Assessment Team, the Benefit Assessment Officers will carry out adult social care financial assessments to ascertain how much someone can contribute towards their care, gather financial details and expenditure along-with dealing with queries in writing and over the telephone. This is a busy team and the successful candidates will be able to adapt their day and prioritise their workload accordingly. The Benefit Assessment Officers will be liaising with several departments within the Local Authority and external agencies.

Duties include

  • Carry out financial care assessments
  • Advising the service user what benefits they maybe entitled to and if a deferred payment arrangement applies.
  • Scrutinising the Mosaic system for information entered by the Social Worker.
  • Prioritising urgent cases and liaising with several departments

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in carrying out adult social care financial assessments or Housing Benefit officers with a broad experience of giving advice in Welfare Benefits.
  • Experience in dealing with review requests, complaints and queries
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing a case-load and prioritising cases
  • Being able to adapt your day to deal with urgent / priority cases and queries.
  • Experience in using Mosaic would be preferred but not essential
