Senior Data Scientist: Microbiome & Clinical Trials
Location: Cambridgeshire / Hybrid position
Salary: circa £60,000 – £70,000 per annum plus benefits
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support a clinical-stage biopharma company developing microbiome-based precision medicines. This role will focus on analysing microbiome data from clinical trials and other studies, contributing to the development of new live biotherapeutic products.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Analyze large-scale biological datasets (metagenomics, transcriptomics) with clinical metadata, including data from clinical trials.
- Develop and implement new analytical, statistical, and machine-learning methods to enhance the informatics platform.
- Provide statistical input into study designs and analysis plans for complex datasets.
- Support analytical needs across preclinical and translational biology teams.
Ideal Candidate:
- PhD in data science, bioinformatics, statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Expertise in machine learning, data analysis, and statistical modeling.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Linux, Python, R, and version control.
- Familiarity with clinical datasets, patient metadata, and biomarker discovery.
- Knowledge of microbial genomics, metagenomics, and other omics data (e.g., transcriptomics, metabolomics).
