Systems Service Manager

What is the role about?

The Systems Service Manager oversees the performance of our technical supply chain providers and their systems on behalf of Reed in Partnership, ensuring effective service delivery. They manage all aspects of these providers, including system development projects and incident management.

The role involves collaboration with various departments to communicate system performance and requires strong technical knowledge to understand challenges between providers. Performance management, understanding contracts, compliance requirements, and key performance indicators are crucial.

Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Technical Supply Chain Management

  • Out of hours support to system releases and any testing requirements as systems are developed with additional functionality
  • Overall supply chain management of each technical provider, ensuring monitoring of performance
  • Strong contract management knowledge
  • Take the lead on supply chain projects to deliver system improvements and own and liaise around any system incidents
  • Responsible for overseeing the incident management processes involving technical supply chains
  • Management of active Subcontracts and Service Level Agreements to ensure performance targets are met

IT & Technical Knowledge

  • Execute test scripts according to test plan and report on any deviations or defects and analyse requirements and specifications for testability
  • Liaise with Service Design when required

Driving improvements in performance and delivery

  • Track and manage the development requirements and priorities
  • Reviewing provider progress on performance improvement and where necessary, making arrangements to adjust profiles and or make changes to contractual targets, reallocating volumes appropriately across the supply chain
  • Supporting subcontractors and providers

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with Reed's internal departments to continually improve system functionality, quality & performance.
  • Work closely with the operational management team and Scheduling to maintain system performance, address and resolve any issues and coordinate any development or testing required
  • Work closely with contract commissioner to resolve any issues or queries as required

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with:

Essential Attainments:

  • Experience of supply chain management in a fast-moving, dynamic environment
  • Experience of Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in various testing tools and methods, such as ISTQB, ISEB, PMP, QAI, 9001, ISO, HP, CAPM, SILK, or ALM
  • Demonstrable experience of working closely with APIs and using APIs to test third party integration would be an advantage
  • Evidence of effectively leading a team, motivating, coaching & supporting them with their development.
  • Experience of developing internal relationships
  • Ability to be able to manage change effectively within own business
  • Ability to performance manage multiple contracts/clients
  • Experience of conflict management and ongoing dispute resolution.
  • Experience managing both automation and load/performance test tools/teams.
  • Experience and expertise in both risk management and risk-based testing.
  • Experience in Defect Management, defining and documenting the defect management approach and tooling. Identify, track, and manage defects, working closely with business stakeholders' development teams to prioritize and resolve issues and understanding Incident management policies and processes
  • Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies, agile certification preferred.
  • Experience of service management governance and IT Service design
  • Experience with policies and processes for request fulfilment, release management, asset and configuration management, and software asset management

Essential Criteria:

  • High level IT literacy and a strong understanding of website performance metrics
  • Strong knowledge of test management processes, design techniques, and best practices
  • Experience of working in a software testing role or a recent relevant IT qualification
  • Ability to analyse and define test coverage
  • Ability to translate requirements into test cases
  • Ability to provide accurate analysis of testing carried out and issues found
  • Commercial awareness/acumen
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical system details to non-technical audiences
