Our client is a leading research and insights firm operating at the intersection of media, entertainment, and technology. They deliver high-quality, data-driven analysis for companies across music, gaming, video, and other creative industries.

**Role Overview

The company is seeking a skilled and self-driven Researcher to join their team on a freelance basis. The focus of this role is to produce analytical and thematic reports for clients in the Video gaming industry, incorporating perspectives from adjacent entertainment sectors such as music and digital media.

**Key Responsibilities

  • Produce a pre-agreed number of in-depth reports during the contract
  • Write regular blog posts (approximately weekly)
  • Deliver full reports every six weeks
  • Conduct qualitative research, including interviews, surveys, and desk analysis
  • Represent the company at industry webinars, interviews, and networking events
  • Distill survey findings into clear, engaging slide decks
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Contribute to thought leadership across the gaming and entertainment space

**Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in the gaming AND broader entertainment industry
  • Proven ability to craft insightful, high-quality written reports
  • Experience writing across multiple sectors (e.g., games, music, media)
  • Skilled in qualitative research: interviews, surveys, desk research
  • Confidence in external engagement and public-facing roles
  • Self-sufficient, proactive, and aligned with a collaborative working culture
  • Ability to transform complex data into actionable insights and presentations

**Desirable Skills

  • Commercial experience within the gaming industry
  • Background in games journalism or editorial writing

**Interview Process

  1. Submit a relevant writing sample or a previously published blog
  2. Initial 15-20 minute initial interview
  3. 1-hour interview with the Head of Research
