Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 per annum
Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire
Start Date: September 2024

This role is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Role:

  • Individual and Group Support: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Lesson Support: Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher, adapting activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a Positive Learning Environment: Promote social and emotional well-being, creating a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in developing positive attitudes and behaviours.
  • Curriculum Access: Help students overcome barriers to learning, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement tailored education plans for students.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and interventions, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Education: Previous experience working with children with SEN, preferably as an SEN TA or in a similar role.
  • Qualifications: GCSEs in Maths and English - Minimum Level 2/C Grade.
  • Empathy and Patience: A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting young people with special needs.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school environment.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable to changing situations and able to use initiative to support students effectively.
