Registrar, Academy in the Arts, Permanent role, £45k-£50k annum

Our client, a prestigious academy in the arts requires a dynamic and experienced Registrar. In this role, you will develop, promote, oversee, manage, coordinate, administer and deliver the Academy's programmes of study leading to degree, diploma and certificate awards. Having overall responsibility for the Registry, leading its staff and managing and developing its activities, ensuring that critical processes are maintained to ensure robust, efficient and demonstratable.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading the Registry, with strategic oversight and responsibility for the efficient management of all processes related to the programmes of study
  • Instrumental in the development and implementation of the student recruitment and admissions policies to facilitate the recruitment of a student body
  • Engaging with and monitor all aspects of student progress and achievement across university-validated programmes & teaching awards
  • Overseeing quality enhancement processes, regulations, assessment and systems
  • Ensuring compliance with expectations set by the Office for Students & external regulators
  • Contributing to submissions to the Office for Students, and other regulatory bodies
  • Compliance with the responsibilities of the UK VI's Student Visa sponsorship licence
  • Accurate and timely submission of data and policy documentation
  • Compliance with the responsibilities of data protection legislation, notably GDPR
  • Validating university on student registration and records and recommendations
  • Maintenance of the quality and standards ensuring that all aspects of the relevant regulations are applied fairly and consistently
  • Developing proactive relationships with relevant external stakeholders
  • Reviewing recruitment and admissions policies and procedures annually
  • Leading and coordinating student recruitment providing an efficient, effective service
  • Leading on the maintenance of student records, with focus on student progress, student retention, academic quality and standards and employability, ensuring a positive student experience of a diverse national and international student body
  • Developing, implementing and managing systems and services
  • Providing an effective student financial support service, keeping student debt to a minimum
  • Developing policies for student bursaries and acting as member of awarding panels
  • Leading the development, oversight and implementation of a new student records system
  • Lead, develop and manage Registry staff to provide a professional working environment
  • Maintaining and developing Faculty of Education regulations, policies and procedures
  • Overseeing the maintenance and accuracy of relevant areas of the website
  • Managing Awards Day, including the printing of award certificates

Desired attributes and skills

  • 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent real world experience
  • Experience of working in academic administration in a higher/further education context
  • Proven track record in dealing with regulatory processes
  • Experience of working with Customer Relations Management (CRM) system
  • Up to date and comprehensive knowledge of the Higher Education sector
  • Knowledge of current legislation and debates concerning data protection (including GDPR), widening participation and equal opportunities
  • Substantial knowledge of UK and International qualifications framework
  • Informed knowledge of the requirements for Graduates Outcome returns
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including detailed reports for Committees and external regulators
  • Strong IT (Microsoft Office applications) and analytical skills with the ability to devise and interpret large, complex and diverse statistical data sets
  • Ability to manage a team; lead and coordinate their activities to meet targets and deadlines
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate and build successful working relationships with various stakeholders to deliver business activities successfully
  • Provide an excellent standard of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate tact, diplomacy and confidentiality when dealing with students, staff and external stakeholders
  • Manage time and prioritise a diverse and demanding workload with a methodical and focused approach.
  • Work flexibly and adapt to varying needs (often under pressure)
  • Work as part of a team, independently and to act upon own initiative
