Student and Host Support Assistant

About: Alpha Guardians is a Suffolk Basekd Company, which facilitiates in bringing students to the UK to study in High School and beyond. It works with students, agents and families from both Europe and Asia, along with students, schools and host families in the UK.

Role: The position is designed to be a wide and varied role for the right candidate with scope for flexibility and development within the company. You will be involved in many of the day to day activites, often being its' central point for resource and information. You will have contact with staff, schools, students, hosts, parents and agents, giving variety within the role.

Although predominately office based, there is scope for external work, including supporting at Parent's Evenings, Host Family visits and occasional airport transfers.

You will be joining a supportive team, where student welfare is paramount, enabling students to reach their full potential and achieve their aims and aspirations before leaving our care.

Hours of Work: There is flexibility on the working hours offered, but ideally the successful candidate would be looking for a set 20 hours per week, based over at least 3 days (days and times to be agreed).

Place of Work: You will be based at the Adastral Park site, Martlesham Heath, Ipswich IP5 3QU. You will be able to use the facilities on the site such as a well stocked restaurant and a fully equipped gym (membership costs apply), along with some free events that happen on the Adastral Park site.

Holiday: You will be entitled to 20 days holiday pro rata per annum plus bank holidays.

Qualifications: Ideally you should be educated to degree level, but we are willing to consider candidates with relevant experience, who have gained A Levels, along with GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.

Computer Skills: A full working knowledge of Microsoft Office, which includes Word and Excel are essential, along with the ability to use email fluently. You will need to be familiar with and willing to use Zoom, Teams, Whatsapp and similar programmes.

The knowledge and ability to work with our Social Media Team, coordinating campaigns and providing information to support them is essential.

Knowledge and previous use of Adobe products would be an advantage.

Communication: A high level of verbal and written communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English is essential as you will be working with people from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, where English may be their second language. (Most speak English fluently).

The confidence to converse with new people via different mediums, such as Zoom, to forge working relationships, enabling people to feel relaxed and confident in Alpha Guardians is essential, along with being able to demonstrate a positive attitude, enthusiasm and be an effective team player.

General Skills: The ability to use own intiative, suggest new ideas, working practies, along with the ability to organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.

Specialist Skills: To have fast and accurate keyboard skills to produce documentation to a high standard, keeping records of contacts made and cascading to team as appropriate, along with being able to research and use problem solving skills to identify, investigate and resolve issues as they arise.

Experience: To have experience in working in sales and marketing would be advantageous.

Desirable Skills: To speak a second language, a full, clean driving licence and use of own vehicle (with reimbursement) and previous knowledge of guardianship, education or working with International Students would be beneficial.

It is impossible to give an exhaustive skill list, however a willingness to have a 'can do' attitude and the ability to 'think outside of the box' is essential, along with a sense of humour and a positive approach, whilst remaining professional at all times.
