HEAD OF YEAR
Job Title: Head of Year (Non-Teaching)
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Job Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Student Welfare: Oversee the welfare and personal development of all students within the year group. This includes monitoring attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, and implementing appropriate interventions when necessary.
- Parental Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians. This includes regular communication about student progress and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care and support to students, helping them to overcome any personal, social, or emotional barriers to learning.
- Leadership: Lead and manage the form tutors within the year group, ensuring they are effectively supporting their students and contributing to the pastoral system.
- Policy Implementation: Implement school policies and procedures, and ensure they are followed within the year group.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other Heads of Year, the Senior Leadership Team, and other staff to ensure a consistent approach to student welfare and discipline across the school.
- Events and Activities: Organize and oversee year group activities and events, such as assemblies, trips, and charity initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience in a pastoral role within a school setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to the welfare and personal development of young people.
Note: This is a non-teaching role, so while a background in education is beneficial, there are no teaching responsibilities associated with this position.
