Surgical Sales - Team Leader

Our client delivers innovative, high-quality medical and surgical solutions, as well as patient monitoring equipment, across the UK and Europe. Renowned for their reliability, they serve Public and Private Hospitals, Primary Care Centres, Community Diagnostic Hubs, Pharmaceutical sectors, Academia, and Private Industries throughout the UK.

The company provides a range of customised services, including warehousing, distribution, and sales and marketing, to support partnered manufacturers of medical and surgical products.

Reporting into the General Manager you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the Surgical sales division (team of 4). You will be responsible for overseeing the sales, marketing, and operations of surgical products and services, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs with a product portfolio consisting of Consumables, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Operating Tables, Surgical, Surgical Equipment, Spinal Surgery, Vascular Surgery.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of surgical sales professionals, including sales representatives, product specialists, and customer support staff.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the team, provide guidance and support, and monitor performance to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and expansion in the surgical sales division.
  • Identify new market opportunities, industry trends, and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define divisional goals, objectives, and priorities aligned with overall company strategy.

Sales and Marketing:

  • In partnership with the marketing team, develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to promote surgical sales products and services, generate leads, and acquire new customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, key opinion leaders, and industry partners.
  • Oversee the development of marketing materials, promotional campaigns, and educational programs to support sales efforts.

Product Management:

  • Manage the product portfolio within the surgical sales division, including selection, pricing, and inventory management.
  • Stay updated on industry developments, new product launches, and competitor activities to ensure a competitive edge in the market.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale.

Operations and Customer Service:

  • Ensure seamless operations and excellent customer service within the surgical sales division.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including logistics, customer support, and finance, to ensure timely delivery of products and services and resolution of customer inquiries and issues.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and feedback, address any concerns or complaints, and implement strategies for improvement.

Previous Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree within the Medical or Scientific field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in leadership roles within the Medical or Scientific industry, preferably in sales or business development.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyse market data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.

Additional Information:

  • Please note this is a full time, permanent role working Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm although flexibility is required for meetings and site visits.
