They are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled female SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide essential support to a non-verbal pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Role Overview:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the educational and personal development of a SEND pupil. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the child, ensuring they receive the individualized support they need to succeed in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to a non-verbal pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping them engage with their learning materials and activities.
  • Personal Care: Assist the child with personal care tasks, including toileting, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Sensory Play Facilitation: Design and implement sensory play activities tailored to the child's interests and developmental needs, promoting engagement and skill development.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the child's specific needs.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe and record the child's progress, providing feedback to the teaching team to inform future planning and support strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism, is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting non-verbal communication.

  • Must be female due to the intimate care aspect of the role.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
