  • Salary: £47,575 to £53,262 per annum

  • Job Type: Full-time (36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)

We are seeking a dedicated Head of Inclusive Learning Support to ensure the success of learners with SEND and those with low needs. The role involves managing Learning Support staff and overseeing the SEND code of practice requirements, particularly the EHCP and High Needs requirements. A strong knowledge of statutory responsibilities for SEND students alongside the Code of Practice is essential. This position is based in Harrow and reports to the Director for Additional Learning Support – Operations and Curriculum.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and manage SEND provision in line with the College's strategic objectives.
  • Manage a team in the delivery of Learning Support for SEND learners and plan, manage, and develop the learning support provision.
  • Oversee students with EHCPs, including administration, application, enrolment, provision of support, and budgetary needs.
  • Manage a team of staff who provide support for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
  • Collaborate with other Heads and management across the college to ensure consistent support for all learners.
  • Take a leading role in the development of SEND provision and provide guidance for the SEND policy and strategy.
  • Monitor the quality and success of SEND provision and maintain high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including local boroughs and parents, and gather information to improve the quality of the programme.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification.
  • Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g., PGCE/DET).
  • SEN qualification or willingness to undertake one, such as the National Award for SEN Coordination.
  • Experience of SEN teaching and learning support delivery in a cross-College setting.
  • Good working knowledge of the 2014 SEN Code of Practice.
  • Understanding of Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding in education.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with databases.
  • Experience of successfully managing/leading a team.
