PT Finance Manager- within a not-for-profit Charity in Sheffield

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a not-for-profit organisation based in Sheffield. This is a fast-paced environment filled with caring and supportive individuals who fulfil meaningful work and love to be a part of the community!

Hours 29.6 hours per week (very occasional evenings & weekends)

Salary £30,937.00 pro rata.

As a Finance Manager, you will be managing our finance team (Finance Assistant), offering support to the Money Management Coordinator role and overseeing the delivery of the Budget Management Service.

Main duties:

Financial Management

  • Prepare the annual budget, with input from other members of the Senior Management Team and project managers
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with appropriate commentary
  • Prepare draft year end accounts for audit, with full supporting documentation
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and are adhered to, to comply with the Charities Act
  • Review and introduce automated processes to avoid duplication and make efficient use of resources
  • Liaise with the external accountants and auditors
  • Make sure appropriate insurance covers are in place
  • Manage the outsourced payroll function, co-ordinating timely submission of accurate payroll amendments
  • Overview/management of company pension schemes/auto-enrolment
  • Prepare costings for new funding bids
  • Manage the Organisation's financial position, ensuring timely invoicing and payment for service income and the maintenance of cash balances
  • Administer Gift Aid claims.

Reporting

  • Working with service managers to prepare quarterly / annual reports for funders as per contractual requirements
  • Annual returns to Companies House/Charities Commission
  • Present financial reports to the Board of Trustees meeting
  • Present reports including management accounts to the Board of Trustees finance sub-committee including performance against budget
  • Provide any other ad hoc reports as requested.

Business Planning

  • Work with the Senior Management Team to develop the business plan, managing and monitoring effectiveness and performance to achieve its objectives
  • Ensure a sustainable financial strategy for Sheffield Mind, underpinned by robust financial planning and management systems
  • Prepare financial forecasts and budgets for all projects and services
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts every month.

The ideal candidate:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW etc).
  • Have 5+ years PQE, preferably with charity sector/ fund accounting experience.
  • Able to demonstrate working independently and as finance lead.
