Our client, a highly regarded accountancy firm specialising in general accounting and taxation, located in Blackburn, are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to work within a small team to help support a diverse client portfolio with their management accounts and year end.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum - negotiable. Free Parking and Pension.

Monday to Friday, no weekends. Flexible hours can be discussed.

Role as a Senior Accountant:

You will play a pivotal role by managing a portfolio of clients for all matters of Management Accounts, VAT, Year End and support of the junior members of the team. You may also advise on Tax or have the support of the Tax team for Personal or Corporation Tax.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant:

  • Client Management. Oversee a diverse portfolio of clients, offering comprehensive accounting services.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and management reports. Year End accounts filings to HMRC and Companies House.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to help clients achieve their business goals.
  • Handle corporation tax computations, allowances, and property tax matters.
  • Manage Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Manage year-end accounts and VAT filings, ensuring month-end deadlines are met.
  • Develop and analyse financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss, and balance sheets.
  • Produce management accounts and reports using Sage, Xero, Quickbooks and Excel.
  • Workflow Management, overseeing and supporting junior members of the team.
  • Client Interaction and Onboarding, maintaining customer relations.

It will also involve supporting the learning and development of junior staff.

Requirements, skills and qualifications:

  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or Qualified by Experience in Practice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory role in an accountancy practice.
  • Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, and/or Sage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Supervisory leadership abilities.
