Our client is seeking a Sustainability and Climate Change Officer to lead on the development and implementation of a sustainability strategy and lead the organisation in developing and implementing initiatives to deliver sustainability ambitions in Rutland including reduction in carbon emissions, local area energy plans, biodiversity net gain and local nature recovery.
You will be ensuring that climate change considerations take proper account of the impact on biodiversity and that it is given the opportunity to adapt.
Sustainability and Climate Change Officer
Start date: November 2024
Rate: £311 per day Inside IR35 via umbrella
Location: East Midlands
Duration: Until 28th February 2025, with likely extensions beyond this
On site preference: 2/3 days per week
Requirements:
- Candidate must be experienced in carrying out assessment of current position on sustainability, climate change, Local Nature Recovery or Local Energy Area Plans
- Candidate must be familiar with local government requirements on sustainability agenda and have knowledge to assess performance
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with and influence a wide range of audiences
- Knowledge of one or more energy technologies and / or energy policy and strategy (e.g., Climate Change Act, Green Growth and Decarbonisation agendas)
- Leadership skills with ability to meet operational objectives through setting priorities, innovation, delegation, problem solving, and execution of planning monitoring and performance management processes
- Successful Track Record in Strategic Policy Development
