Lead Student Support Officer (Engagement and Transition)

Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Leeds International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.
Operationally reporting to the Head of Student Support, you will lead on projects that engage international students with partner universities and transition to life and study in the UK. You will be supported by a Student Support Officer (Engagement & Transition) and will work closely with the rest of the Student Experience Team. You will also work with Academic Teams to deliver a high-quality experience for students in order to ensure their progression to university. You will need to be highly organised, with strong project management skills and have experience in organising events and activities, ideally within an academic setting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • To create and implement a student engagement and transition strategy, feeding into the wider Student Support strategy.
  • To work with other Student Support teams to identify non-engaged students.
  • To collaborate with academic teams to drive a 'whole-centre approach' to student engagement and transition events.
  • To foster relationships between the ISC and partner universities for student engagement and transition events.
  • To plan and manage university engagement projects throughout the academic year.
  • To facilitate online events for pre-arrival students, including virtual open days and UK induction.
  • To assist in creating and delivering the student induction project.
  • To plan and manage student engagement workstreams for the academic year.
  • To coordinate the Student Voice project, including working with the Quality and Enhancement team, feeding into the centre's governance requirements.
  • To work with the central product marketing team to embed central projects at local level.
  • Assisting in updating social media accounts i.e Instagram accounts, Viva Engage.
  • To plan and organise the student ambassador programme.
  • To manage the alumni network, providing opportunities for previous students to share their experiences.
  • To project manage student events, such as celebration ceremonies and varsity events.
  • To plan, organise and deliver trips and visits, including completing necessary paperwork i.e risk assessments, itineraries, and supplier checks.
  • Day-to-day coordination of work for the Student Support Officer (Engagement & Transition)
  • To compile student data, feeding into the centre's student recognition strategy.
  • To support student-led initiatives such as the creation of clubs and societies.
  • To conduct general student support initiatives, such as IT support.
  • To provide general administrative support for the centre, for example, dealing with general student queries via phone or email.
  • To foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Any other duties as required by the Senior Leadership Team or Head of Student Support
  • To adhere to all compliance requirements in relation to GDPR, UKVI requirements, Safeguarding and Health and Safety.

ABOUT YOU

  • Level 6 Qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in project or events management
  • Experience in organising trips and visits including completing necessary risk assessments
  • Experience in creating engaging content
  • Experience in working collaboratively with external partners to facilitate activities and events
  • Experience in using feedback to enhance current practices or processes in the workplace
  • Experience in writing reports using data
