Temporary position - Monday - Friday - 8:30am - 17:00pm

Temporary pay: £15 per hour PAYE

Fully office based

Enhanced DBS required

Location: East London

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant to support our education client in the efficient processing of transactions and maintenance of accurate financial records. This role involves both internal and external communication to resolve issues promptly and provide administrative support within the finance department.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Input and process requisitions and data into FMS to generate school purchase orders.
  • Review suppliers and purchases to ensure best value and send out purchase orders.
  • Liaise with reception and school keepers to ensure correct delivery of goods.
  • Check orders against delivery notes and address any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with staff and suppliers regarding the return of faulty goods or incorrect deliveries.
  • Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and input data into the accounting system.
  • Chase staff for the return of invoices and maintain filing of financial documents.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any mismatches.
  • In the absence of the Finance Officer, request supplier bank details and authorise payments.
  • Assist with the distribution of monthly budget reports and support budget holders.
  • Update the agency staff list in conjunction with the HR Officer and code invoices.
  • Maintain records for audit purposes and assist in the preparation for audit visits.
  • Manage IT systems relevant to finance, producing reports and information as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the Finance Officer and School Business Leader.
  • Attend meetings, undertake full First Aid training, and act as a School First Aider when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with computerised accounting systems, preferably FMS.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage and quality check work to ensure system accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain efficient management systems.
  • Good communication skills for liaising with various internal and external parties.
  • Willingness to undertake First Aid training and act as a School First Aider.
