Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join us in supporting schools in Wythenshawe and surrounding areas. As a Cover Supervisor, you play an important role in the continuation of learning in the absence of a class's regular teacher.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain on task and adhere to school rules and policies.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and activities according to the teacher's instructions, maintaining continuity of learning and promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, employing appropriate strategies to address any disruptions and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Support students with their learning, providing assistance and guidance as needed, and responding to questions and queries to the best of your ability.
  • Liaise with teaching staff and senior leaders to provide feedback on student behaviour, progress, and any issues or concerns that arise during cover sessions.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during break times, ensuring their safety and well-being, and enforcing school rules and expectations.
  • Undertake administrative tasks related to cover supervision, such as registering attendance, distributing resources, and collecting completed work.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and establish positive relationships.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subject areas and year groups as required.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A calm and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviour and unexpected situations.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo necessary background checks and training as required.
