SRG are working with a well-established Environmental Management company based in the West Midlands. They are now looking for a Technical Assessor to join their busy technical team in the West Midlands. Your role will be to ensure that all incoming and outgoing materials are classified to the highest standard, in line with company procedures. This is an ideal opportunity for a Chemistry graduate looking to branch out from the laboratory into something more commercial.

Accountabilities

  • Follow site pre-acceptance, acceptance, sampling & compatibility procedures according to environmental legislation to technically assess waste enquiries.
  • Ensure sufficient information is supplied, including samples where required.
  • Ensure all information required for quoting, transport & acceptance is logged on the system.
  • Understand site processing capabilities, physical & capability, to enable routing of waste.
  • Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits & waste management licences.
  • To liaise closely with the Central Customer Services, Sales and Operational functions to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
  • Ensure pre-acceptance information is complete and available at time of acceptance, including plant & route.
  • Advise on transport, labelling & consignment note requirements.
  • To assist with the maintenance and control of the site management systems, to include document control, preparation of data and attending reviews where necessary.
  • To be diligent and respect the confidentiality of the information to which they are party.
  • Check loads notes and ensure offsite wastes have been priced accordingly. Inform sales of non-conformances and communicate reasons for surcharges or rejections. Pragmatic in providing advice aimed to resolve non-compliances identified.

Requirements

  • Minimum BSc in Chemistry or related with Chemistry content.
  • Full valid UK driving license.
  • Background in laboratory and analytical skills with knowledge of analytical instruments and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and customers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Experience in the waste management industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience in sales, business development or account management is desirable.
