As an experienced customer services assistant you provide a professional customer service function at all times, ensuring that all daily/weekly/monthly department routines are met timely and accurately for a SME STEM organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering of the customer service telephone lines and ensuring that cover is in place across busy periods of lunch, holidays and sickness.
  • Taking customer orders via phone, fax and email and entering the orders onto the company Sage Line 500 system in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the transport department to ensure that deliveries to customers are recorded on to our automated ORTEC transport planning system on a timely basis and are accurate.
  • Answering customer enquiries or passing them on to the appropriate department for resolution, providing the customer with appropriate information, helping to solve problems and dealing with complaints.
  • Supporting the department to balance workload during periods of high volume or absence due to holidays or sickness.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required by the senior department heads.
  • Carry out any reasonable duties as identified by your line manager or team leader
  • Positively represent the company to our customers and suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual employment obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with our ISO standards.
  • Fully participate in the company's performance management and development programmes.
  • Maximise own ability to produce quality work, on time, and to brief, utilising best skills and available technology.
  • Work in accordance with the Company's Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Background in Customer Services or Customer support
  • An interest in science
  • Windows environment / Microsoft packages
  • Sage line 500 experience an advantage
  • Some commercial experience in a SME organisation
