Join a family-owned construction group as an Accounts and Office Assistant/Bookkeeper. Since 2011, we have expanded from residential to commercial property development, focusing on planning gain and reselling. This role offers a blend of accounting responsibilities and office management, providing support directly to the Company Director.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Update and control Sage Accounts 50 Professional for all companies in the group, managing Sales, Purchase, and Nominal ledgers.
  • Handle the receipt, checking, and processing of supplier and subcontractors' invoices.
  • Resolve any disputed invoices and perform reconciliations of supplier statements.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and prepare monthly CIS returns and VAT submissions to HMRC.
  • Prepare payment schedules and submit bank payments for authorisation via Barclays.net.
  • Regularly liaise with suppliers through email and telephone, and field and screen telephone calls.
  • Assist with identifying useful planning applications through Council websites, depending on workload.
  • Occasionally assist the other director with planning research as time allows.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Sage Accounts 50 Professional.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes including CIS returns, VAT submissions, and bank reconciliations.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using computer and ancillary equipment.

Hours:

  • Current accounts assistant works 3 x 7 hour days per week usually Tuesday Wednesday and Friday but they are flexible both on days and hours worked.
  • Currently working from home/remotely which is the preference with occasional days in the office by arrangement if necessary. (need to be able to attend when required)
