Job Title: Systems Quality Engineer

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am - 1.30pm (35 hr week)

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 but would consider paying more for the right candidate.

Role Objective

  • To provide the necessary competence and expertise to support the Quality department and the Organisation to ensure the Quality Management System and associated processes meet the required quality standards.
  • Support all necessary activities to improve quality, minimise costs and drive improvements to support business goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for supporting the maintenance of site accreditations, to lead Quality Management System activities, to visualise and provide an accessible route to business documentation. To lead the audit program and any quality issues arising as a result, to support continuous improvement internally and to drive zero impact approach to the customer.
  • To encourage a team environment and to develop and implement best practices that emphasise defect prevention, reduction in variation and to contribute to continuous improvements and t o competently complete all necessary tasks of the role and to raise and drive resolution where required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Requirement for a Systems Quality Engineer with proven experience in a manufacturing environment, to support leading and owning the QMS, audit program and associated NCR management.

Duties include - but not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with QMS and on-going maintenance, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management system (IATF16949/ISO9001) .
  • Oversee ongoing compliance to business approvals and support maintaining accreditations.
  • Maintain and update the Quality Manuals and Quality Procedures to ensure they align with business needs and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support with visibility and promotion of the QMS including its accessibility and use.
  • Analyse current and future procedural requirements for the business (Statutory, Customer Requirements etc).
  • Support with development of audit programs in accordance with business and customer requirements.
  • Lead and conduct audits as part of the internal program, including system, product/process and layered process audits to assess compliance against quality standards.
  • Write audit reports and NCR's and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely responsiveness.
  • Support with hosting 2 nd & 3 rd Party audits.
  • Assist in training and guiding other auditors.
  • Provide training on quality issues and business processes.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to prevent non-conformities, relating to system issues.
  • Data collection activities to define issues and drive improvements.
  • Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product quality issues using proven methodology such as 8D and supporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Promote techniques like Six-Sigma and Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing) for continuous improvement.

Required Experience / Skills

  • Proven experience in fast paced manufacturing organisation.
  • Proven quality system experience and ownership.
  • Proven audit experience, good working knowledge of IATF16949 and VDA standards.
  • Lead auditor in automotive disciplines.
  • Proven knowledge of core tools.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Awareness of six sigma techniques beneficial.
  • Demonstratable experience of leasing QMS activates and championing any associated NCR's and improvements.
  • IATF Lead Auditor (VDA beneficial).
