What this role is all about:

As a new generation insurer disrupting the insure-tech market, our Actuaries and Actuarial Students are the analytical experts who ensure our operations run seamlessly. They leverage their mathematical prowess to analyse data, predict and manage risks, set equitable premiums, design innovative insurance products, and contribute to long-term financial planning. Their critical role ensures that Vitality offers reliable coverage while maintaining financial stability. By applying their actuarial skills, they provide invaluable insights that drive our decision-making processes.

As an Actuarial Analyst within the Vitality Life Actuarial department, you will be part of a dynamic resource pool that supports various actuarial functions. This will include a primary focus on valuations and capital management. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in key actuarial areas. Develop technical skills, and contribute to the financial stability and strategic decision-making of the company.

Key Actions

Implement the Actuarial Control Cycle

:

  • Data Management:

  • Cleanse and validate data.

  • Complete data analysis.

  • Run predefined and documented processes.

  • Modelling:

  • Build simple models or use pre-existing ones.

  • Document and understand key assumptions used in models.

  • Identify key risks and assumptions.

  • Reporting:

  • Report analysis outcomes to a manager or team head.

  • Conduct reasonability checks using available data.

  • Monitor results and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Distil and Communicate Information to Stakeholders:

  • Understand stakeholder needs and requirements.

  • Collaborate freely with stakeholders for issue clarification.

  • Prepare and update presentations.

  • Build and Transfer Skills and Knowledge:

  • Participate in and seek out learning opportunities.

  • Apply learnings effectively to work.

  • Manage Self:

  • Take full responsibility for work quality.

  • Maintain a can-do approach to find solutions and overcome tasks.

What do you need to thrive?

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in maths, stats or equivalent
  • Student membership of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent.
  • Working towards the completion of their actuarial qualification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • MS Office skills: Excel intermediate, Word/PowerPoint basic.
