School Finance Manager

Finance Manager Required for a School in St Albans

Engage Education Services has specialised in recruiting education staff in all roles for over a decade. We're currently looking for an enthusiastic Finance Manager to work at a fantastic school in St Albans

Our team has built an excellent reputation in the local area, and we're looking for more high-quality finance staff to work with these schools.

Full time - Permanent - 52 weeks per annum, Including INSET Days

5 weeks holiday entitlement + 8 Bank Holidays

Hours of work 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday

About the role:

The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday. As the school finance assistant, you will be working as part of a close-knit team that works hard together to ensure the smooth running of financial services across the school. The finance Managers' duties can include:

  • To prepare the annual budget for the School.
  • To produce monthly management accounts and reports for use by senior management and governors, including cash flow, detailed variance analysis and forecasts to the end of the year.
  • To ensure all Balance Sheet Control accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis - these may be completed by Finance Assistants or the Finance Manager.
  • Report on these accounts to the Bursar.
  • To prepare forecasts for the future financial performance of the School; usually over a period of five years.
  • To work with budget holders to ensure budget holders understand the procurement process.
  • To provide regular budget updates to budget holders within the School and alert them to potential overspends.
  • To prepare the accounting records ready for external audit, to aid and provide additional information as required by external audit, to liaise with the Board to ensure the Report of the Trustees is prepared and agreed in a timely manner.
  • To maintain the School Financial Dashboard for use by senior management and governors.
  • To produce ad hoc reports and undertake financial analysis (e.g. ONS surveys, benchmarking, KPIs, etc) as required.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • FCA/ ACA Qualification
  • A real passion for working within an education environment.
  • Experience utilising SAGE within a finance role.
  • Knowledge and experience of account procedures.
  • High levels of computer literacy including Excel.
