Main Duties:
- Support a tax portfolio, with a primary focus on personal tax compliance work
- Oversee the processing of self-assessment and personal tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, landlords, shareholders etc
- Preparation of P11D forms
- Provide practical support and explain businesses processes
- Support with tax planning advice to minimise tax liabilities
- Research changes to tax laws and regulations
- Build strong rapport with clients, proactively handling queries and acting as their go-to person
- Communicate with colleagues across departments, as well as HMRC
- Work closely with the managers to ensure expectations and deadlines are met
- Champion professional development, undertaking regular training opportunities
- Provide ad-hoc assistance with tax queries and projects where required
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified or nearly qualified CTA
- Experienced in personal tax and capital allowances for sole traders and partnerships
- Essential tax advisory experience, particularly with owner-managed businesses and families, covering IHT, CGT, Income Tax, and Company Tax issues
- Experience with corporate restructuring is desirable
- Proficient in software for completing self-assessment returns; experience with Iris personal tax software preferred but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized
- Strong telephone and written communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to support and mentor junior team members
