Handyman/Maintenance Technician

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Essential

  • Must be competent in leak detection and must possess at least basic level plumbing skills
  • Strong customer services focus based on service excellence.
  • At least two years previous experience as a handyman
  • Good command of the English language
  • Must be polite, courteous with a smart and clean appearance.
  • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or other trade experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working on residential developments
  • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or other recognised trade qualifications

Role Purpose: To provide efficient and effective handyman/Maintenance support to Elephant Central, ensuring all areas are maintained in accordance with required standards and operation and maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and procedures when carrying out maintenance duties, reporting any potentially unsafe working methods, installations or equipment to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure safety and compliance when carrying out maintenance work or where co-working is required.
  • Undertake repair and reactive, planned and preventative maintenance work to all building areas across the estate, including where and when necessary problem diagnostics.
  • Repair fixtures and fittings, including plastering, decorating, tiling, woodwork.
  • Ensure all tools are maintained, kept secure and are only used by authorised personnel.
  • Inspect and maintain as necessary all exterior and interior doors, lubricate door hinges once a month and check functionality of locks and door closing devices, ensuring serviceability at all time.
  • Clear shallow drains not deeper than 1 Metre and rod as necessary to clear blockages, unblock road storm water and foul water drains ensuring water does not pool and drains do not overflow.
  • Assist with fabric maintenance of the common areas, regular audits and inspections, reporting findings to management.
  • Attend training courses to keep up to date with new developments and statutory regulations.
