Head of Finance

Reed Finance are pleased to be partnering a growing and dynamic Chelmsford based buisness who are seeking a new Head of Finance to take on the pivotal role of providing financial and business support within the organisation. This role is responsible for coordinating the supply and distribution of financial information between external partners and our internal teams, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and implementing procedures and controls.

A few key responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting, financial, and business support functions, including financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and budgets.
  • Interface with third-party providers, managing deliverables such as financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory filings.
  • Monitor and report on project accounting, ensuring compliance with policy and conducting variance analysis against project budgets.
  • Contribute to the management team, supporting initiatives for the successful operation of the business.
  • Provide training and guidance on accounting policies and procedures, including revenue recognition.
  • Manage procurement processes, including capital asset decisions and cost recovery methods.
  • Review contracts and prepare instructions for new agreements with complex billing or special payment terms.
  • Maintain the project accounting tracking system, coordinating with IT and Corporate Accounting Services.
  • Interact with clients and subcontractors on proposal and contract issues, coordinating responses to information requests and audits.
  • Support senior management in managing policies and procedures related to HR, Tax, and Legal matters.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Corporate policy and internal controls.
  • Provide statistical data and trend analysis for sales and business volume.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ACA , ACCA or CIMA qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in project accounting and UK tax regulations.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in line management (2 direct reports).
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with management, staff, clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
