SEND Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Barnet
Long Term Futures are working with a highly nurturing specialist setting in Barnet to appoint a number of SEND Teaching Assistants for September 2025.
This is a purpose-built environment supporting pupils with Autism and associated communication and sensory needs. The school offers a calm and therapeutic learning experience tailored to each pupil's profile, with small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a deep commitment to inclusive, personalised education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism and additional needs
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and external professionals to implement EHCP targets
- Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton and visual schedules to support learning
- Assist with daily routines including transitions, personal care and sensory regulation activities
- Help create a structured, predictable and positive environment that supports emotional and academic progress
- Monitor and report on pupil engagement, behaviour and development
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with ASD and complex needs
- A calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach
- Confidence in supporting students with sensory processing needs and communication challenges
- Good teamwork and the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

- Easily accessible from High Barnet, New Barnet and Cockfosters
- Served by local bus routes including 184, 307, 326
- On-site parking and excellent facilities available for staff
