SEND Teaching Assistant - Autism Support - Barnet

Long Term Futures are working with a highly nurturing specialist setting in Barnet to appoint a number of SEND Teaching Assistants for September 2025.
This is a purpose-built environment supporting pupils with Autism and associated communication and sensory needs. The school offers a calm and therapeutic learning experience tailored to each pupil's profile, with small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a deep commitment to inclusive, personalised education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with autism and additional needs
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and external professionals to implement EHCP targets
  • Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton and visual schedules to support learning
  • Assist with daily routines including transitions, personal care and sensory regulation activities
  • Help create a structured, predictable and positive environment that supports emotional and academic progress
  • Monitor and report on pupil engagement, behaviour and development

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD and complex needs
  • A calm, patient and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Confidence in supporting students with sensory processing needs and communication challenges
  • Good teamwork and the ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

  • Easily accessible from High Barnet, New Barnet and Cockfosters
  • Served by local bus routes including 184, 307, 326
  • On-site parking and excellent facilities available for staff
