Senior Payroll & Finance Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll & Finance Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for an individual who is enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn. You will be working in a supportive environment that encourages growth and development.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee all aspects of payroll functions, including year-end reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of Group Financial reports and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Manage daily cash positions, key payments, and maintain banking facilities.
  • Continuously improve finance processes and produce accurate financial information.
  • Handle weekly and monthly payroll, including statutory requirements and supervision.
  • Manage pension schemes and employee benefit schemes.
  • Assist with monthly Management Accounts, IFRS reports, and Group inter-company account reconciliation.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and assist with inventory management.
  • Prepare year-end statutory accounts and support the audit process.
  • Oversee the Subcontractor function and produce monthly CIS returns.
  • Prepare Quarterly VAT Returns and manage cash book, bank balances, and credit cards.
  • Complete government statistical returns and assist with policy reviews.
  • Process sales invoices and support the Financial Controller with new software implementations.
  • Coordinate import and export documentation and handle foreign currency transactions.
  • Provide cover for the Financial Controller as needed and report on associated companies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience within a payroll function carrying out similar tasks.
  • Proactive approach to tasks and processes with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and suggest improvements for efficiency.
  • Payroll/accounting qualification is desirable.
