The Strategic Change Office oversees the governance and delivery of these projects, applying change management expertise to ensure success. We focus on building the organization's capability to implement effective change, delivering projects efficiently and ensuring overall portfolio health.

Role Overview

As a Project Manager you will lead the successful delivery of strategic projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Your responsibilities will include project definition, resource management, risk mitigation, and consolidated reporting. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders and project teams to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and facilitate effective decision-making.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Expertise in Project Management and Change Management.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner/APMQ or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, including planning, risk and issue management, and resource allocation.
  • Experience engaging and communicating with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide clear recommendations.
  • Leadership experience, including team management, performance evaluation, and staff development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of working within a Higher Education
  • Familiarity with methodologies such as Agile and Lean.
  • Experience in business intelligence and reporting strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Duties:

  • Provide expert recommendations on project scope, resource estimation, and scheduling to optimize success.
  • Ensure projects are aligned with the overall strategic vision and plan, advising governance bodies on the expected benefits and drivers for change.
  • Support the implementation of a comprehensive approach to programme and project management.
  • Deputize for senior colleagues in meetings, governance bodies, and during the management of strategic operations when necessary.

Operational Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of project management, including planning, risk management, change control, progress reporting, and benefits tracking.
  • Conduct business analysis to shape project scope, size, and requirements.
  • Manage governance structures, project teams, and financial tracking.
  • Ensure effective supplier management and consolidated reporting to the portfolio as needed.
  • Take on change management responsibilities, including designing transition plans and assessing change readiness where required.

Managerial Duties:

  • Lead and develop project team members, including performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Manage day-to-day tasks and activities of the project team, ensuring a high level of stakeholder satisfaction and efficient delivery.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, support, and well-being through positive leadership.

General Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes and the wider strategic change capabilities.
  • Build and maintain professional networks to enhance project management best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners across professional services, ensuring accurate reporting and effective stakeholder management.
