Underwriter - Agricultural - About the role
The Regional Trading Underwriters role is responsible for driving the performance of a selected number of brokers portfolios often located in the broker's office to extract the budgeted revenue whilst meeting our budgeted loss ratios.
The role is highly market visible, involving extensive broker contact when communicating our strategy, managing the financial performance of existing relationships and in seeking to broaden our market penetration.
Home based role with quarterly requirement to be in London

Identify a panel of brokers to support our business model and ensure optimum coverage for the region.
Underwrite complex, unusual, and non-standard risks within our stated appetite.
Provide feedback to refine our underwriting appetite and leverage market opportunities.
Establish a firm reputation for being the 'go to' Underwriter for your region / brokers.
Providing input to the development of the underwriting strategy
Working closely with all areas of the business to ensure that we deliver a clear and seamless set of propositions to the market.
Use existing market knowledge to establish and continually enhancing a range of business relationships with our key partners, ensuring that we understand and satisfy their needs and those of their customers.
Underwriter - Agricultural - Key responsibilities
- Underwriting Expertise: Leverage strong agriculture underwriting skills to evaluate and manage risks, ensuring profitable growth.
- Motor Underwriting: Apply comprehensive motor underwriting knowledge to develop and manage policies within the agriculture sector.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and stakeholders, encouraging them to work with us on our panel.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively manage and communicate with various stakeholders to align interests and achieve business goals.
- Broker Development: Proactively develop existing brokers, enhancing collaboration and driving business development.
- Market Presence: Visit brokers regularly to foster strong working relationships and promote our specialised agriculture motor products.
Underwriter - Agricultural - Key requirements
- Experience: Several years of underwriting experience with a strong focus on agriculture. Extensive experience is highly desirable.
- Skills: Excellent underwriting and motor underwriting skills. Strong relationship management and stakeholder management abilities.
- Confidence: Self-assured and capable of managing broker relationships and promoting our offerings.
