Job Title: Geotechnical Earthworks Examiner
Location: South Wales
Contract: 6-Month Contract with Potential for Extension

About the Role:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Earthworks Examiner to join their team in South Wales for a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. This role involves performing earthworks examinations in line with rail & infrastructure standards, ensuring safety and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct earthworks examinations to the highest standards, in compliance with requirements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports for each examination using handheld technology, ensuring timely communication of findings to the Earthworks Examining Engineer or Earthworks Manager.
  • Immediately report any defects or safety concerns, including preparing Urgent Defect Reports when necessary.
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of the examination workbank to manage risk and ensure compliance.
  • Perform site examinations using roped access techniques where qualified.
  • Carry out special examinations and assist with monitoring schemes for sensitive structures as directed.
  • Participate in reconnaissance visits and provide support for specialist examinations, including those of unique structures and tunnels.
  • Assist in safety-critical site support duties, including roles such as Controller of Site Safety and Engineering Supervisor.
  • Support quality, safety, and environmental objectives, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct technical monitoring examinations, coastal defence assessments, and Line of Route structure evaluations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in ground investigations and ideally geotechnical earthworks examinations within infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with UK standards and safety procedures.
  • Qualification and experience in roped access techniques are advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to safety and quality.
