Buyer – New Milton

Do you have experience in Procurement and want to work for a company who have a genuine desire to help the community? An established business who offers the best technology to allow elderly people to live at home are recruiting for a Buyer to join their welcoming team.

Shift pattern: Monday - Friday 09:00- 17:00 (35 hours per week)

Requirements

  • Experience in a fast-paced purchasing role and able to work in a busy environment.
  • Experience in negotiating supplier contracts to gain cost reduction.
  • Ability to understand business reports and identify discrepancies/cost savings.
  • Able to contribute ideas, suggestions and feedback to improve the service and to identify and implement service improvement projects
  • You will have a good standard education and ideally be working towards CIPS or equivalent qualification.
  • You are competent with advanced Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, it would be advantageous if you are familiar with Microsoft Business Central.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential as an important part of this role is communicating with suppliers over the phone or via written word.

Main Responsibilities

  • To manage transactional purchase orders against demand of the system and from shared forecasting information.
  • Managing the transactional suppliers to ensure shared processes are relevant.
  • Source new parts as required either by telephone or online. Gather necessary information including price, supplier, full description and lead time.
  • Source new/alternative suppliers.
  • To work towards achieving cost reductions through negotiation and sourcing against set objectives.
  • Work with the buyer to review the overall "value" offered by existing suppliers and ensure that the company's purchasing remains competitive.
  • To assistant in managing the information between the business and our third-party logistics company.
  • To review the compliance of all supply chain documentation such as subcontractors, consultants etc.
  • To ensure the purchasing administration teams business targets/KPI's are met.
  • Running, creating and interrogating various daily and monthly reports and attending meetings.
  • To ensure office procedures and working practices are followed. To also ensure that these are regularly reviewed and updated as necessary in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • To assist with the upkeep of the warehouse / storage area, moving boxes, recycling with some light lifting and shifting of boxes. (suitable training will be given in line with H & S, manual handling)
  • Helping to manage, maintain and promote the different accreditations, including but not limited to, BSI, BAFE, TSA.
  • To liaise with other departments within the business to help ensure the smooth and efficient transfer of high-quality information and data.
  • Creating monthly reports to support purchasing targets and KPI's
