£110,000 - £115,000 + Package (28 days holiday + bank holidays, car/car allowance, discretionary bonus, helath care, life assurance & generous pension scheme)

We are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join our client on their projects covering across the Suffolk region.

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for leading the commercial team in maximising the commercial performance, through the implementation of the commercial strategy and targets. Collaborating closely with the team, the chosen candidate will take responsibility for advancing and optimising the pre-contract operations. With a team of 11 to manage, this role offers a great opportunity to join the senior management team within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Commercial Managers on a variety of projects to establish a cohesive team that efficiently delivers the project.
  • Handle project change management and issue required notices promptly.
  • Maintain control over expenses and effectively manage budgets.
  • Guarantee compliance with all applicable Regulations and Company Policies & Processes
  • Provide management and support for commercial and supplier contracting aspects of projects throughout the business stream.
  • Ensure timely application and collection of payments to optimize cash flow.
  • Handle project change management and issue required notices promptly.
  • Liaise with customers and third parties on commercial issues, including payment agreements.
  • Provide annual forecasting and regular updates to management.
  • Manage project risk and opportunities.
  • Oversee supply chain across 25 packages, ensuring timely payments.
  • Identify and negotiate contracts with clients and suppliers.
  • Handle project procurement with the Regional Procurement Manager.
  • Conduct financial reporting with local Finance.
  • Prepare and negotiate claims with clients and supply chain; advise insurers.
  • Assist in dispute resolution.
  • Identify and negotiate unacceptable terms in bonds, warranties, and guarantees.
  • Evaluate and report on commercial performance of the project, escalating issues as needed.
  • Comprehend customer requirements and ensure the Project is managed to meet those needs while staying true to the Customer Focus Strategy
  • Efficiently manage change and identify opportunities for business improvement.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting negotiations for pre-bid agreements.
  • Ensure Monthly Commercial Reports are prepared accurately and submitted promptly.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role as Senior Commercial Manager or Commercial Manager
  • Strong Knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
  • Notable experience working on projects within highway maintenance.
  • You will need to have a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
  • Ability to drive and influence people within the team.
