Position: Learning Support Assistant for Vulnerable Young People

Hours: 8.30 - 4.30 (term time only)

Starting Salary: £23,940.00

Start Date: September 2024

Location: Mildenhall area

Job Purpose: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Join our team to provide support and supervision for pupils aged 11-16, encouraging their engagement in the learning process and working towards their academic, social, behavioural, and emotional goals. You will also undertake general administrative duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Wellbeing: Help raise the emotional wellbeing and aspirations of vulnerable young people.
  • Safeguarding: Prioritize and develop an understanding of safeguarding.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement strategies to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, understanding their Special Educational Needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team to manage behaviour positively and in line with each pupil's Behaviour Support Plan.
  • Individual Support: Provide specific support based on individual needs, ensuring safety and supporting access to learning activities.
  • Learning Assistance: Deliver small sections of the learning programme to individual pupils, as directed by teaching staff.
  • Supervision: Supervise and support pupils during break and lunch times, encouraging positive interactions and promoting self-esteem.
  • Keyworker Duties: Undertake keyworker responsibilities if required.
  • Environment Creation: Create and maintain a purposeful and supportive environment for pupils.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and contribute to paperwork, including record keeping, observations, risk assessments, and learning and support plans.
  • Resource Preparation: Prepare materials, displays, and resources as directed.
  • Training and Development: Undertake training as agreed with the Line Manager.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain safe working practices in compliance with safeguarding, risk assessment, and Health and Safety guidelines and policies.
  • Team Relationships: Foster positive relationships with the staff team.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality relating to pupils, staff, and the business.
