Monday & Wednesday 8am - 2pm.

Contract Type: Temporary (with a view of changing to permanent in time)

About Us: Fountain Practice is a well-established and friendly practice committed to providing high-quality healthcare to our community. We are currently a single handed practice with GP Principal Dr Senhenn. We have just under 9000 patients on our practice list.
We are part of the Epsom PCN (Primary Care Network). The Epsom PCN is made up of 7 practices in the local area that support each other and work collaboratively together.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and organised Prescription Clerk to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented and passionate about patient care.

Job Description & Info: The Prescription Clerk is responsible for managing the repeat prescription process, ensuring that all requests are processed accurately and efficiently. The role involves liaising with patients, GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and timely provision of medications.

We are currently in need of a Prescription Clerk Monday & Wednesday, working from 8am - 2pm, with a view of increasing the hours per week and the scope of work in time.

Applicant must be flexible and willing to cover annual leave or short notice staff sickness/absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing Repeat Prescriptions: Accurately process repeat prescription requests from patients, ensuring all necessary checks and authorisations are completed.
  • Liaising with Healthcare Professionals: Work closely with GPs, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure prescriptions are accurate and up-to-date. We have our in-house Clinical Pharmacist that is also here to support.
  • Patient Communication: Communicate effectively with patients regarding their prescription requests, providing information and assistance as needed. Dealing with prescription queries via telephone, electronically and face to face.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all prescription requests and actions taken.
  • Medication Queries: Handle medication-related queries from patients and healthcare professionals, escalating complex issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Compliance: Ensure all prescription processes comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in using computer systems and software, including electronic patient records. Full training will be provided on our EMIS software system.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
