HR Advisor

Reed HR are supporting a company in Darlington to recruit a HR Advisor. The purpose of the role is to provide expert HR advice and support to the management team on all people issues and have day to day responsibility for HR activities.

This role is hybrid working, has flexible hours and is paying 30-35k.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide first line generalist HR advice and support on terms and conditions of employment and HR policies
  • Proactively manage all employee relations cases, providing advice and support to the management team ensuring compliance with HR policy, employment legislation and best practice, escalating any complex or high risk cases to the HR Director
  • Advise and coach the management team on the application and interpretation of HR policies so that they can proactively manage their team's people issues
  • Prepare and issue letters and contracts of employment for any changes to terms and conditions of employment
  • Assist the HR Director to review, update and write HR policies to ensure they reflect the company's progressive culture and are fair, consistent and legally compliant
  • Maintain and update the HR system and case logs, ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all information
  • Manage the absence and probation process, inputting and assessing the data and providing support to the management team so that attendance and performance issues are resolved in a timely and consistent manner
  • Provide regular and ad hoc HR metrics, identifying any trends, patterns or concerns and making recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in HR projects to assist the HR Director to implement the people and culture strategy

Person Specification

  • Experience in a HR generalist role
  • Experience of providing employee relations advice and support to managers
  • Working knowledge of employment legislation and experience of its practical application
  • Experience of working for an SME (preferable)
  • CIPD L5 qualification or working towards (preferable)
