Head of Operations

I'm looking for an individual who is experienced in offshore operations to join our client as Head of Operations. This role is a hybrid role where you will be based in Great Yarmouth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive compliance of the Operations team to all relevant policies and processes (including HSE) within the management system (IMS) for the Operations function, and feedback any areas of improvement. As requested, and proactively, provide input for policies and procedures within the IMS.
  • Perform resource planning to ensure sufficient resourcing of the Operations functions (onshore and offshore) based on the business Project Forecast and other sustaining activities required.
  • Provide input and support for all new systems implemented in the business.
  • Regularly evaluate and review the Operations function activities, driving the delivery of efficient operations able to safely meet the demands of live projects and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure facilities are managed to achieve routine and ad-hoc maintenance being performed safely and to budget and any capex requirements are addressed.
  • Manage the Operations function within the agreed annual and monthly target for costs.
  • Ensure time-writing completeness and regular review/analysis by line managers in the function to ensure correct codes are used and overtime is appropriate.
  • Work with the Global Resources team in maintaining an oversight and governance for all facets within the ERP system, focusing on data accuracy and process governance, allowing accurate reporting and asset management.
  • Provide motivational leadership to the Operations function to ensure that effective teamwork and collaboration achieves the operational demands.
  • Regularly meet with direct reports to review business performance against Functional goals and KPI's also their own performance with these.
  • Set and regularly review line reports goals, training, and development (in the company system). Ensure that individual goals align to the Functional / company goals.
  • Ensure that the optimal teams are in place to deliver the business requirements (regularly consider resource levels, skill requirements and succession planning).
  • Work with the Global Resources Team to drive the engagement and compliance with the training management system and competency management system.
  • Ensure requirements for Third party competency evaluation are adhered to when contract labour is utilized in the Operations function to ensure a safe and competent workforce.
  • Actively drive a proactive HSE culture through top-down leadership and leading by example, including regular HSE discussion as a primary topic, diligent HSE reporting and follow up on the Intelex system.
  • Support the GM and work with the rest of the leadership team to develop and implement the Company's strategic plan, annual business plan and associated objectives for the Great Yarmouth business.
  • Work with Finance department to drive accountability for cost and profitability through the Operations function.
  • Work with stakeholders to continually evaluate own functional area of the business in terms of performance (strengths and weaknesses) and its interaction with other functional areas - drive new ideas and continuous improvement.
  • Comply with and promote the Company's vision, values, and policies, and comply with all legal requirements.
  • Complete internal audits and participate in external audits as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline or appropriate time served experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
  • Significant experience of the upstream oilfield sector preferably within a business that is focused on drilling, Decommissioning, well services or subsea services.
  • Business and quality management systems used to support an operations function.
  • Safe systems of work and QHSE practices.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of the products and services offered
  • Risk Management.
  • Experience in Workshop /Maintenance operations.
  • Experience in Offshore Operations, delivering to deadlines.
  • Experience in Warehouse and logistics functions.
  • Well-rounded business manager with technical / engineering awareness and experience planning and executing operations.
  • Experience in an environment where timelines can change, and alternative solutions need to be developed.
  • Experience in cost control against budgets and driving accountability throughout the operations function.
  • Experience introducing processes & systems (physical & digital) that subsequently bring workflow improvement.
  • Experience managing up, down across and working with different role types.
  • Strategic planning and business growth experience.
  • Goal and KPI setting and evaluation.
  • Experience of Supply Chain and facilities management.
  • P&L Management.
  • Appreciation of contractual and commercial risk and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Able to take a strategic view whilst managing and executing at a detailed level where necessary.
  • Assess and where appropriate reduce inefficiency to improve operational, safety and financial performance.
  • Aligns performance goals systematically to drive performance.
  • ERP, or equivalent, systems for management of assets, inventory, and maintenance.
