teach195. are seeking passionate and dedicated Secondary School English Teachers to support a highly respected secondary school located in Glossop. As an English Teacher, you will inspire students with a love for literature, language, and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum, incorporating a range of teaching strategies and resources to cater for all styles of learning and need.
  • Literary Exploration: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, texts, and authors - allowing their appreciation for literature and developing their analytical and interpretive skills to grow.
  • Language Development: Facilitate the development of students' written and oral communication, providing opportunities for creative expression, critical analysis, and effective communication.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Implement assessment strategies to monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support their academic growth and achievement.
  • Literacy Across the Curriculum: Promote literacy across all subject areas, collaborating with colleagues to integrate literacy skills into their teaching and supporting students' literacy development beyond the English classroom.
  • Cultural Awareness: Explore diverse cultural perspectives and voices within literature, encouraging students to develop empathy, tolerance, and an understanding of the world around them.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialisation in English.
  • Relevant degree in English Literature, Language, or related field.
  • Previous experience teaching English at the secondary level is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English language and literature.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current educational trends and best practices in English teaching.
