Senior Production Planner

A leading manufacturing business based in Cheshire are looking for a Senior Production Planner to join their team. This is a newly created role to help support the business with huge growth plans and join a well established business with opportunity for further development. Additionally, there is the opportunity to consolidate your weekly hours across 4 days and have a Friday off, with also hybrid working options available.

As Senior Production Planner you will be responsible for resolving and developing approaches to assignments, leading production planning projects that require coordination with other functions and third parties, and solving a broad range of problems with varying scope and complexity. This role demands an individual who can work independently, possesses in-depth knowledge and experience, and has the ability to drive continuous improvement within the planning process.

About the role:

  • Develop and implement production planning strategies to meet organisational goals and customer demands
  • Lead and coordinate production planning projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Analyse and solve complex problems related to production planning, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
  • Act as a liaison between the marketing, sales, and production teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Monitor and influence KPIs, ensuring they remain within acceptable ranges through effective planning techniques.
  • Challenge the demand and work collaboratively with key departments to drive a consensus based forecast.
  • Continuously improve planning processes and techniques to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead make-to-order and make-to-stock planning processes to optimise production schedules.
  • Ensure inventory is kept at optimum levels.

About the person:

  • Ideally degree qualified or overseas equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment with strong planning experience.
  • Strong MRP experience, ideally used SAP.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong CI mindset and the ability to drive change in a positive way.
