Finance Manager

Temporary Contract - Public Sector - 12 months

£600 per day Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Working Pattern: Full Time (2 days in the office, maybe more based on business needs)

Are you an experienced Finance Manager ready to take on a new challenge in the public sector? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to lead their finance team and drive the delivery of core financial management processes. As Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in budget setting, financial accounts production, budget monitoring, and providing professional financial support and advice.

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Finance, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of Principal Accountants, Senior Accountants, Accountants, trainees, and apprentices. With your exceptional leadership skills, you will act as a role model for your team, setting high standards of work and creating a positive and productive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the budget setting process at the Directorate and overall Council level, including the Council Tax setting cycle and associated Cabinet reports.
  • Oversee the production of year-end financial accounts, close down processes, and external audit response.
  • Monitor budgets effectively, ensuring compliance with the Council's corporate financial framework, and providing high-quality financial support and advice.
  • Drive effective financial management to support the Council's vision, objectives, and priorities within budget constraints.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in adult social care at a similar level.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think creatively to develop innovative service solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong working relationships.
  • Experience in advising and challenging senior managers on financial management issues.
