Domestic Abuse Practitioner

We have a current opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner on a contract basis. The position will be based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. For further information about this position please apply.

Monday - Thursday ( 5 days worked over 4)

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Hours: 37 per week ) late night to be worked Monday / Wednesday )

Type: Temporary contract for at least 3 months

Hourly rate: Between £17 - £20 per hour ( UMBRELLA ) depending upon experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be working on the universal perpetrator programme which focuses on perpetrators of Domestic Abuse which includes work at professional and specialist service levels.
  • You will deliver group programmes and 121 interventions with clients accessing the service.
  • You will work closely with the wider victim support services to review risk, develop safety plans and improve outcomes for all parties involved.
  • Deliver and support the coordination of early response to and engagement with the perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse
  • Manage a case load focusing on perpetrators of domestic abuse to provide an assertive, violence prevention programme based on thorough assessment.
  • Maintain a proactive response to service users, providing positive options for behaviour change throughout the service user's engagement with the programme.
  • Use a combination of motivational work, relationship building and a broad range of therapeutic skills including group facilitation to enable service users to address their abusive behaviour

Essential Experience:

  • Direct work with vulnerable service users
  • Working within a public protection/ safeguarding multi-agency setting .e.g. Child protection, vulnerable adults, MARAC, MAPPA.
  • Competent in managing safeguarding issues and procedures.
  • Writing and presenting information formally and informally, to a range of audiences.
  • Working within legislative frameworks and using this application to develop, influence and encourage partnership working.
  • Working within conflict management continuum.
  • Evidence of keeping reliable and timely reporting and meeting deadlines
